ASNEL is an organisation that encourages intensive academic exchange which is not restricted to the level of professors and professional scholars. Students are welcome in ASNEL and at the yearly ASNEL conferences. The association provides them with an opportunity to find out more about anglophone literatures and cultures and to enter into an active dialogue with scholars and authors from the field as well as like-minded students.
It is among the central aims of ASNEL to support young academics and students in their studies of the New Literatures in English and to establish the New Literatures and Cultures as a regular feature of research and teaching. Therefore ASNEL endeavours to provide information and support for students who are interested in the field or plan a thesis or dissertation on New English Literatures and Cultures.
Being a member of ASNEL means being part of a vivid academic network which is likely to complement and enrich your university studies in many ways, not only if you are planning an academic career.

The Summer School of the New Literatures in English

ASNEL supports the Summer School of the New Literatures in English, an biannual event explicitly addressed at students of English who would either like to gain a first insight into the New English Literatures or to increase their knowledge about and experience with the field. Students from various countries and an international selection of authors and scholars are brought together for a week of lectures, seminars and readings to explore the cultural and literary variety of the anglophone regions of the world.
